    There are a few problems with value based pricing: 1. Scope (on the client side) is either not defined or changing. Waterfall approach to projects are long time dead, and for a reason. 2. Unknown unknowns. You must estimate scope creep on your side . Things are much more complicated than they seem to be. 3. Usually, clients have no idea what the value for the future product will be. They have high hopes, for sure, but that's about it. 4. Even if client have some idea how much profit they will generate, they are not willing to share this information with contractors.

    I'm not just reminded of film reel spooling and grading but also of "bromides." Post producers used to scan bromides, which are printed white against black supers, for online compositing. Flame machines from the late 1990s were the size of ATMs ~

    O people, we are your sisters, I swear to God, we will not have even a grain of bread inside the house. Does that please you, mother? Muhammad al-Nas is a brother. Oh God, make fun of us, your righteous servants. Oh God, make fun of us, your righteous servants. My call to me is to every Muslim, O Lord, if he sees this message, make him happy and protect him for a long life. May God reward them well. God is sufficient for me, and He is the best disposer of affairs. There is no power nor strength except with God. O people, oh the mother of Muhammad, oh people of goodness, oh people of mercy. We are your sisters and your sons. I swear to God, we will not have even a grain of bread inside the house. Will that satisfy you, oh mother of Muhammad? I only spoke out of hunger and distress. I am My mother and my sisters have been displaced from our homes because of the war. We are in a state that only God knows about. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs for those who brought us to this situation, and God is the One It is great that you did not write this appeal other than out of distress and poverty, O All-Knowing One. It is decisive for us. I hope you. By God Almighty, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, He is the only food I have. At home, I swear to God, my brothers. My brothers sat for two days without eating. By God, our situation is very difficult. We are 6 people inside the house, and my father is dead and there is no one There are people who depend on us, and we live in a rented house. We cannot pay the rents that remain on us.'''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''My brother, my first words I swear to God on the Book of God that I will not lie to you, nor deceive, nor deceive. I am a Yemeni girl displaced from the war. My family and I have rent and the owner of the house. By God, my brother, he comes every day and insults us and talks about us and wants from the house to the street because we could not pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and came back to talk. The neighbors gave us a deadline until the end of the week, so we made an oath to him by God. This one will take us out to the street. Have mercy on him and us. Our country is due to this war, and we cannot find food for our day, and I, my brothers and I are living on a embassy. Our father is dead, may God have mercy on him, and there is no one among us in this world who came to support us in these harsh circumstances. My younger brothers went out to the street and saw the neighbors eating and stopped at their door, so they would give them bread even if they broke it. By God, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, they were uncircumcised. The door and they kicked them out and they came back crying. They died of hunger. No one had mercy on them. I gave them a holiday. I made a living. Now if one of us helped us with a kilo of flour, I swear to God, I am dying of hunger. My brother, I am an outsider to God and then to you, and I want your help for the sake of God. I implore you, by God, you love goodness and you will help me, even if it is for 2000 Yemeni riyals. Message me on WhatsApp on this number 00967,713651282 and ask for my card name and send it and do not delay and may God compensate you with all the best, my brothers Sagar, see how they are and help us and save us before they expel us in the street. This podcast is really thought-provoking! It's fascinating to hear how the traditional agency model is becoming outdated, and how pricing based on outputs rather than inputs is a game-changer. The idea of agencies developing their own products and going into joint ventures with clients seems like the future of the industry. I'm definitely going to check out Tim's website and book to learn more!

    You should be hiring skilled and trained professionals - a lot of agencies lost time and money due to training programs, employees come for a few months or years, get the training they need and leave immediately once they get a better offer. All of that training gone down in the drain.

    This must resonate with so many people (including myself). Amazing chat guys. Really powerful. So what if you suffer from all 5? 2yrs learning design. Then I still couldn't bear being judged. So I set out to master marketing and branding. 4yrs later... Noone has seen my work or learned from my own knowledge. Can't bear the thought of someone judging me or telling me I'm no good. Even the thought of not every single client throwing themselves at me. In my mind, that's a big fat FAIL. I won't take any help from anyone or even have other designers critique my work. So I sit, putting 30-40hrs a week in. Improving my knowledge and skills. Not moving forward. At all. This opens up a can of worms. Achieving a lot in childhood and never receiving acknowledgment from parents. Yikes! No wonder I'm so fascinated with psychology. What to do...... I need a life coach or mentor. Big time! Too stubborn. That makes me a failure. 😢

    • @garethellison01
      @garethellison01 15 годин тому

      Also, I wonder if anyone out there in the design space needs an accountability partner? There's no point in just listening to such a great chat that makes us realise just why we're self sabotaging, if we don't intend to do anything about it. Surely having someone who holds you to your goals and gives you constructive feedback as well as encouragement is instrumental in our progress? Identifying this isn't enough. I for one find strength in encouraging others and knowing I may have made a difference. It gives me confidence. If someone does need this(as do I) reach out. ❤

  • @josevargas686
    @josevargas686 16 годин тому

    Ah! Perfect! You addressed my doubts precisely. There is something to be said about billing for output, it's not for newbies! you require previous (large) amounts of experience to know how much your price needs to be, because you need to know the amount of work that it requires to a good approximate amount, which requires having done similar work in the past. Well, in a way it depends on the size of the projects, someone dealing with weeks-long projects doesn't require much experience, but if you need to deal with months-long projects, now you need to know a lot more before you can quote a price, just because it is that much harder to predict the amount of work that needs to be done, hence predict the costs.

    Or, source and pay a nice person in the Philippines $15 - $200 per project... guys like this generally outsource to designers in developing countries anyway. It's a nice industry scam that racks up profits.
